How to Fix Errors on Brother MFC 9840CDW, MFC 9440CN and Brother MFC-9650

Fixing Errors on Brother MFC 9840CDW, MFC 9440CN and Brother MFC-9650

  • Step 1 – First turn on your printer: Brother MFC 9840CDW/MFC 9440CN/Brother MFC-9650.
  • Step 2 - Push the button on the front of the printer to open the cartridge cover or the front panel of the printer where you can access the toner cartridges. However, do not remove the toner cartridges (Brother TN-115).
  • Step 3 - Push the Clear/Back button and hold still to bring up a reset menu. There are 8 different toner functions ( two Black, two Cyan , two Magenta, and two Yellow).
  • Step 4 – For each of the eight functions in turn, push the O.K. button and then push it again to indicate ‘Reset’.  After a few seconds, it will say ‘Accepted’ and will then display a message that the cover is open.
  • Step 5 – Repeat the steps 3 and 4 for each of the other eight toner functions as needed.
  • Step 6 – Once your finished, close the front cover of your printer so the status bar will be reset to normal with no error message. After that, you can resume back to your print job.

    Brother MFC-9840CDW – #1. we’ve just replaced both toner & drum, but only a couple months later, same thing on display. Why? #2. We’ve got deep grooves in our copies along the long edge, approx. 1.5″ apart. It looks like roller wheels. We’ve removed the drum and put it back in, to no avail. HELP!!!

    Hi Gail,

    Perhaps the problem really lies on the drum cartridge that you bought. Try to replace it with a new one if the same problem occurs, then check out the fuser rollers of your printer. Perhaps those are the ones the needed to be change.

    First of all, what is the toner error message appearing on your Brother MFC 7360N?

    was getting toner low message on yellow toner mfc-9440cn. did as above, no longer a low toner message, but won’t print anything from my computer. now no data. all ports plugged in. ideas?

    Hello,

    I have a Brother MFC9840CDW that keeps giving me an error that states my yellow toner is not in stalled, “Put yellow toner cartridge back in”. I have opened the printer and took out the toner, put it back in, reset as stated above in your post but with no luck.

    Have anyone ever had this issue? If so, how do I fix it? Can anyone help?
