Mobile Printing on the RiseMay 10, 2011 No Comments
The past few years saw the rise of people who access information on mobile devices such as smart phones and tablet PCs. Now, in a survey conducted by the International Data Corporation (IDC), this trend appears to have a high impact on mobile printing.
Indeed, the so-called mobile workforce continues to grow and with them, the opportunity to increase efficiency and productivity . Right now, smart phone and tablet PC users are contented with the power-packed features that come with these devices but they will definitely demand for print capabilities soon.
In the survey conducted by IDC, 39% of the respondents say that they are required to travel for work or business. This equates to a huge volume of today’s workforce that also has a requirement for mobile printing. It is inevitable for those who travel for the purpose of work or business to require printing. In fact, the same survey says that employees and businessmen who do moderate travel are the ones most associated with increasing print volume.
IDC’s survey also found out that almost all of today’s smart phone users are very eager to print straight from their devices. More than half of their survey respondents, 52%, say that they cannot print from their smart phones right now but they definitely want to.
Based on this survey, it seems that the world is currently on the mobile printing expansion. Smart phone and tablet PC manufacturers should consider the inclusion of a mobile printing application on their services if they want to stay ahead of their competitors.
IDC’s survey is also an indication that prints are not about to go extinct as many thought it will. Soon enough, you might be trying out the new mobile printing apps on your phone. Since you’re just trying them out, it will be advisable to use compatible inkjet and toner cartridges to cut down on your printing costs without sacrificing print quality and page yield.
