Ricoh Increases Printer Security

Renowned photocopier and printer manufacturer, Ricoh has recently introduced the new Flex Secure Print suite. This new application can help increase the levels of document and printer security in the workplace.

The Flex Secure Print suite is a card-based authentication tool designed to help businesses monitor their printer use. It also helps them keep confidential documents secured by locking down the access to these. The Flex Secure Print offers more than just one set of tools to protect your documents and to allow you to have control on the use of your office printer or copier. It complies with all regulatory requirements.

The Flex Secure Print suite includes a Card Authentication Package. This is a swipe card-based identity authentication system that monitors confidential data. It has features such as control over employee access on the data as well who can print, scan or fax these. According to Ricoh, only authorized users (designated by the company or the one in charge of the equipment) can view, copy or send sensitive documents.

The suite likewise offers the Enhanced Locked Print NX, another card-based security system that allows one to hold information in the Ricoh printer or copier until it is released by an authorized card-holder. This means that confidential data can also be “hidden” from view after it is sent or printed on the machine.

In a way, the Flex Secure Print also encourages company employees to reduce paper wastes and to reduce energy consumption. It also allows enhanced printer management in the workplace.
