Should You Really Get A Multifunction Printer?April 27, 2011 1 Comment
Having a multifunction printer can really be great and convenient if you know you can use it for different purposes. However, there are times when you might feel that you are actually wasting money on that printer when you are not getting the most out of it. So how would you know if a multifunction printer would really fit you?
To help you out, here are some factors that you might want to consider before finally settling for that all-in-one printing machine.
First of all, you must always check on the printer’s printing quality. Even when it has more functions that the typical printer model, it should still serve its purpose of making good prints. You can check on the print resolution which is normally expressed through DPI or dots per inch. A fair resolution could be 600 x 600 DPI that would suit home printing. However, keep in mind that the higher the DPI, it means greater printing quality which would lead to somehow an expensive printer.
Always check on the printer’s price if it would be worth it. Oftentimes, multifunction printers can be costly yet these can offer more than just printing. You may also want to compare the different models since there are those that could be better than the other models but sold at a relatively reasonable amount.
Lastly, there will always be that laser or inkjet type of printer even when it is a multifunction model. Think about the printing costs which would involve laser toner cartridge or inkjet printer cartridge. If you are going to do a lot of printing then a laser printer might suit you since printer inks can be very expensive. On the other hand, if it’s all photo printing for your machine then an inkjet type would work for you.
Keep in mind that there are a lot of things you need to consider before finally getting a multifunction printer. After all, this is not your typical printing machine so take time to check on your needs and preference too.
